Can iOS12 work on iPhone 7?

Apple has announced that iOS 12 will be available for compatible devices, bringing improvements for ARKit, device use management features, and more. Which iPhones & iPads can run iOS 12? Please look at the following picture.

Can iOS12 work on iPhone 7? The answer is absolutely YES!

Every iOS 12 feature is explained below, including highlights: Memoji, Group Notification, Screen Time and, importantly, better performance for older iPhones.

Screen Time and Limited Distraction

Screen time is Apple's take on limiting your iPhone use – how much time you're spending on apps, which apps you use the most, and which apps are sending you the most notifications.

To give you a little extra help, Apple has created app limits. App Limits, a part of Screen Time, lets you set a time limit on apps to remind you to use them less. You can set your own limit, with a notification letting you know when time is almost up. A 'Time is up' message will display when you've reached your self-imposed-Siri-assisted limit.

Animoji and Memoji

Choose from four new Animoji — koala, tiger, ghost, or T. rex — to inject some fun into your next Messages thread or FaceTime call. Go ahead and wink or even stick out your tongue, because Animoji are also more expressive than ever.

Easily create a Memoji to match your personality and mood. You can make as many alter egos as you want to use in Messages and FaceTime. You can choose skin color, hair color, hair style, eye color, eyebrows, nose, features like freckles and facial hair, accessories, and headwear. There's no limit on the number of Memoji you're able to create, so you can add multiples for every look you want to express.

Memoji and Animoji can be used in both Messages and FaceTime in iOS 12.

Grouped Notifications

Grouped Notifications have been added to make it easier to view and manage all notifications from an app at once, and there's a new Instant Tuning feature for tweaking notifications as they come in. You can press on a notification to turn off notifications for a given app or set them to Deliver Quietly, which sends them to Notification Center but not the Lock screen. Siri also offers suggestions to turn off notifications for apps you don't use anymore, and all in all, notifications are less intrusive in iOS 12.

Face Time

FaceTime now supports video and audio with up to 32 people at once. The tile of the person speaking gets larger automatically, so you’ll never lose track of the conversation. You can start Group FaceTime right from a group thread in Messages or join an active one at any time.

Do Not Disturb

Do Not Disturb at Bedtime turns off notifications at night so you only see the time, and Do Not Disturb in general is easier than ever to use with DND options that include ending times available in Control Center through a 3D Touch or force press. With these DND features, you can set Do Not Disturb for an hour, while you're at a specific location, or for the duration of a meeting.

Siri Shortcuts

Streamline the things you do often with shortcuts. Siri can now intelligently pair your daily routines with third-party apps to suggest convenient shortcuts right when you need them. So if you typically pick up a coffee on the way to work, Siri will learn your routine and suggest when to place your order from the Lock screen. You can also run shortcuts with your voice or create your own with the Shortcuts app. The app suggests coffee orders from the place you always order from, and nudge you to message contacts to tell them you're running late.

There's also Kayak-based flight information you can call up via voice. By pressing the add to Siri button, you can then say “Travel plans” and Siri will read back information such as your hotel address.

Photo Sharing

A new way to share your best photos. The ‘For You' tab shows you great moments from your photo library and intelligently suggests sharing photos with the people in them. And if the recipients are using iOS 12, they’ll be prompted to share their photos from the event with you, too.

ARKit 2 and Multiplayer Gaming

ARKit 2 allows for 'shared experiences' for AR multiplayer. Lego, Fender, Adobe and Pixar are all working on AR with Apple iOS 12 cements Apple as a leader in augmented reality (AR) with the arrival of groundbreaking multiplayer capabilities it calls Shared Experiences in ARKit 2.

These multi-user virtual environments allow for multiplayer gaming and experiences through iPhones and iPads. iOS 12 creates a more collaborative (and competitive) way of experiencing AR.

Privacy

iSO12 Safari now prevents Share buttons and comment widgets on web pages from tracking you without your permission. Safari also prevents advertisers from collecting your device’s unique characteristics, so they can’t identify your device or retarget ads to you across the web.

Parental Controls

Screen Time, App Limits, and Downtime, along with Content and Privacy Restrictions, are all available to parents to monitor how children are using their time and set limitations on what's available on a child's iOS device.

Parents can restrict app access with App Limits and Downtime, while Screen Time can be used to see how much time a child is spending on an iPhone or iPad. Content and Privacy lets parents restrict certain kinds of apps, set privacy controls, prevent purchases, disable passcode changes, set content age limits, and more.
